I took part in the Pardeeville Triathlon on July 9, 2016. This was a sprint triathlon: swim 440 yard, bike 15 miles and run a 5 K. It was a beautiful sunny day and the water temperature was high enough (82 F!) that I chose not to wear my wetsuit. I finished in 1:46:26, which was better than I expected.
This was my second sprint triathlon; my first one was in Door County in 2014.
Here are the pictures – click on the thumbnail to see the larger version:
- At the end of the swimming leg (440 yards). The water temperature was 82 degrees so i decided not to wear my wetsuit. The pool i swim in every week has a temperature of 81 degrees!
- At the start of the 15 mile biking leg. The T1 transition was easier because i didn’t have to get out of a wetsuit. But we did have some distance to cover on foot between the lake and the bike racks.
- At the end of the biking leg. It was a nice ride with only a few small hills. The wind was a factor in the last 5 miles though.
- Near the end of the running leg. I didn’t like the 5 K course very much: it was an out and back course that really wound around a residential neighborhood. It was pretty warm at this point too but a number of people had sprinklers out to help us cool off.
- Almost there!
- I finished in 1:46:26. My goal was just to break 2 hours. The big difference was the biking leg; I rode faster than i expected.
